Lungile Siziba recently in GWERU

The week-long ZANU PF induction and mobilisation workshop ended in Gweru last Friday, with the party’s National Political Commissar Cde Mike Bimha declaring that the revolutionary party is on course to delivering a thunderous victory in harmonised elections set for August 23.
Winning elections has become part of ZANU PF’s DNA and all is now in place for the party and President Mnangagwa to emerge victorious again.
“As ZANU PF we are poised for victory come August 23 elections,” said Cde Bimha in an interview.
“We are certain that President Mnangagwa will be re-elected and we will retain the majority.
“We are happy, ready and raring to go and reaffirm our position as the people’s party.”
ZANU PF started preparing for the elections a long time ago, with the restructuring of the party.
In this respect, the national Youth League elective conference was held last year, followed by the Women’s League elective conference and lastly the inaugural War Veterans League conference.
All these conferences
culminated in the holding of the National People’s Congress towards the end of October last year.
The National People’s Congress overwhelming elected President Mnangagwa as the part’s First Secretary and President.
He was also elected as the ZANU PF candidate for this year’s presidential election.
Parliamentary and council election candidates were then elected through a credible, free and fair primary election this year, in which an unusually high number of people turned up to vote, some for the first time.
More importantly, a high number of young people participated in the primary polls, with a lot of them winning.
Said Cde Bimha: “For us, it has been a whole process from two years ago when we started building our structures in terms of putting together our provincial structures, establishing the Women’s League, structures from the district up to the national level, the same for the youths, the same for the war veterans, and as we went to do the Central Committee elections, the Congress and the primary elections, all these activities are part of the mobilisation strategy we have been implementing.
“We are not starting campaigning now as it were because we started long back and as I said, we are rearing to go.”
Cde Bimha also praised the Government for spearheading life-changing developmental projects across the country since 2018, in fulfillment of its election promises.
Dams, clinics, schools, roads and bridges have been constructed while clean water has been provided through boreholes and piped water schemes.
Rural electrification has also been expanded, for the benefit of communities.
Said Cde Bimha: “There has been progress and I think one indicator of the growth rate we are experiencing is the average growth rate in the region.
“We are far ahead of other countries in the region and yet we are the only country which is facing sanctions. Government has done extremely well under the circumstances and we owe that to President
Mnangagwa
and the Government. The party has also done
extremely well, making
sure that structures are in place. The mobilisation of party members has gone on well. So both the party and the Government have performed well.”
