President Mnangagwa has called upon Pastors for Economic Development to help spread the word of love and peace before, during and after the elections.

He said this during the Pastors 4ED Conference held at the City Sports Centre today.

The conference marked the official launch of the Pastors 4ED Harare Metropolitan Province Chapter, and doubled as a graduation ceremony for pastors who have acquired certificates as marriage officers and commissioners of oaths, as well as the ordination of Pastors and Chaplains.

Speaking at the event, President Mnangagwa said: “I applaud the role played by the church in upholding dignity and preserving ethics in the country.

“I call upon Pastors for Economic Development to help us spread this word of love and peace before, during and after the elections.

“Equally, the exercise of one’s democratic right to vote must be in the national interest, towards safeguarding our land, hard-won independence, freedom, democracy and dignity as the unique and sovereign people of Zimbabwe.”

President Mnangagwa also thanked the Pastors 4ED for continuing to pray and intercede for the nation, especially so that the forthcoming elections are held in peace.

“I exhort Pastors for Economic Development and the entire church fraternity to continue doing well for at the proper time we will surely reap,” he said.

The conference ran under the theme, “Ideology, empowering and equipping the clergy and the church for nation building as we honour the ordained leadership of the land.”
