PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa says Zanu PF is home to everyone and those who were swayed into joining opposition parties, in particular the fragmenting MDC and CCC, are welcome to rejoin the ruling party.

He said this in Harare today while addressing thousands of former senior opposition officials and supporters who have resolved to rejoin the revolutionary Zanu PF.

President Mnangagwa said the returnees will add value to nation building, which was started by the Second Republic.

The returnees included Collins Tsvangirai, who is brother to the late opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai, former Masvingo Central legislator Tongai Matutu and Cde Lillian Timveos, among others.

“We remain a national party as Zanu PF; a people’s party deeply rooted in advancing the will and aspirations of the people of this country, hence this landmark event affords us the opportunity to rekindle the founding principles of our country and great party Zanu PF,” said the President.

“On behalf of our party Zanu PF, I warmly welcome you my dear brothers and sisters from across the ten provinces of our mother country Zimbabwe

“You have made an honourable and bold decision to come back and join the party. Zanu PF ndeyedu tose. Tese tinokwana muhomwe ye Zanu PF, asi patiri tose hapana anoisa Zanu PF muhomwe make.”

President Mnangagwa said Zanu PF is the home of the people’s revolution as it fought and toppled the brutal white minority regime and ushered in the democratic dispensation that prevails in the country.

He said Zanu PF, in the Second Republic, is dedicated to serving the aspirations of the people through the mantra, “Nyika inovakwa nekutongwa nevene vayo”.

“Let us celebrate this milestone and recommit ourselves to the realisation of the party aims and national objectives.

“Zanu PF programmes and policies are anchored on addressing the hopes, needs and aspirations of our countrymen. The successes recorded in mining, tourism and other sectors provide ample testimony,” said the President.

President Mnangagwa urged party structures to remain open to welcoming new and returning members in line with the target of the party to recruit new members.

He told provincial chairmen that the notion of “us and them” has no place in the quest to grow the party.
